In 1997, Joanie and Carl Ray Villaverde created an all new sound with their group Mango, playing primarily traditional and contemporary Hawaiian music. They have been appreciated in Hawaiʻis finest resorts and the annual Aloha Festival, as well as in Park City and Salt Lake City during the Olympic winter events 2002, the Biltmore Four Seasons in Santa Barbara and every Friday and Saturday at the Beachside Cafe on Goleta Beach, by UCSB. In Jan 2006 Mango (Carl and Joanie) released their CD, Hapa Haole Hulas, which was nominated in Contemporary Hawaiian category of the 2007 Hawaii Music Awards.
